So let's review the facts: Voldemort tries to kill Harry as a baby- he fails. He lives on as a shadow of his former self. He tries to kill Harry in his 1st year at hogwarts - he fails. He tries to kill Harry in his 2nd year at hogwarts - he fails. He is mysteriously absent in 3rd year. He returns to power. He tries to kill Harry in his 4th year at hogwarts - he fails. He tries to kill Harry in his 5th year at hogwarts - he fails.
Apparently he's not strong enough to cope with Harry's growing strength. So why doesn't he go back using a time turner to try and kill Harry again? He should know where he'd gone wrong these times so he could try and not make the same mistakes again.
Surely Harry could not win against two Voldemorts...

Interesting but can't you only get them from the Ministry? He could be doing this anyway for all we know and if he was we wouldn't find out about it until the end of book 7.

well, luckily all the time turners were destroyed! but if he had already gotten his hands on one, then it could be bad for harry i suppose, but somehow i think harry will triumph in the end

We know he's got spies at the Ministry, we KNOW this for sure. One of them COULD have found a way, so why didn't he just go back and do it? I know it's hard to get yer hands on them, but it's simple enough for a worker there to get one and then just say they didn't know where it went.
I'm sure there will be more time turners made though.

Well actually he didn't try to kill Harry in Harry's third year, and technically in Harry's second year he went up against Voldemort's horcrux instead of the Voldemort that was still around, hiding in Albania. Or someplace like that. The reason I don't think he's used the time-turner is because his past self might be so surprised to see himself that he might just kill him on the spot, Voldemort's smart I don't think he would chance it like that.

Yeah, BUT Voldemort is a VERY powerful Wizard. All he's got to do is tell himself, "HEY you're going to FAIL. I'M HERE TO HELP YOU" and I'm pretty sure that the other Voldy, the older one, wouldn't be too shocked. Most Wizards who KNOW about Time Turners might even ASSUME that if they saw themselves. Honestly, if I saw myself (and I was a Witch) I wouldn't think someone was messing with me, I'd think it had something to do with time. And I'd ask before anything rash was done. Voldemort is smarter than I am, so I'm assuming that he'd think before that too.

But sometimes, the smarter someone is, the more they think. If Voldie sees a copy of himself he might think along the lines of the Order someone sending a person under a disguise to stay as spy next to him.
And before he revived, basically, he didn't trust ANYONE until Pettigrew came along because he knew Pettigrew had no where else to go. As for Quirrell, he was possessing him.

I think that even though he has spies at the ministry, none of them work in the Department of Mysterys. And I believe that thats where the time turners were kept.
And because of how dangerous they are, its almost impossible to get a hold of one. Especially with the security they must have had.

yeah, they were in the Department of Mysteries and unless you work there you don't get access.. i mean even the other ministry Employees don't know what goes on in there, so it would be virtually impossible to sneak in and steal a Time Turner.
not that the thought of Voldemort possessing one hasn't crossed my mind..it's possible, but i just don't know how probable.

Wanna know why he hasn't used a time-turner to go back and Kill harry? Because that would be the queerist, most gay-like ending of all time. JK knows that just as well. It would be too simple, too short. You can't do that! Voldemort as the bad guy has to do it the HARD WAY.
Cause I have no doubt he COULD...I mean, if McGonagall can get her paws on one, surely Voldemort can? But that would just suck. I hope I don't see anymore time-turners...they would confuse.

well ya if you want to be unfun about things.. ofcourse it's because that would suckily end the book.
but it's interesting to come up with theories anyways :-P

yeah i know, I'm just oh so rational about these theories I can't help it. If we were talking fanon I could go on all day...but for some reason when I'm talking canon, I'm way too rational in discussing theories

lol...thus, we must keep our minds into the fantasy world. . Well, McGonagall got her hands on one through permission. It's not as if she stole one or something. Voldemort, it would've been a lot harder for him to get one.

coming up with random theories is what makes a book so good. any book or movie can be ended half way through if they do the obvious thing. but then there would be no book.
so... Yes... anyways..i agree that it was just too difficult for him to get his hands on one..remember.. he went through a years worth of trouble to get Harry into the ministry for the prophecy because he didn't want to draw attention by going on his own.
yeah..

Well if he was going to use the time turner the series would be over already!
